This event focuses on the innovative historical and ongoing care practices and visions for justice that Black women have developed to confront institutionalized reproductive racial violence. Thinking Gender on March 6, 2020 Thinking Gender 2020 will take place on March 6, with a keynote panel headlined by Mariame Kaba. The conference focuses on feminist, queer, trans, anti-carceral, transnational, and intersectional approaches to sexual violence. UC Extreme Sentencing Project Awarded Seed Grant! CSW Associate Director Grace Hong received a seed grant from the Institute on Democracy and Inequality for a new project that will track how gender, race, socioeconomic status, region/county, and other factors influence the length of sentences and parole decisions. The project centers the perspectives and insights of incarcerated and formerly incarcerated people.
